When you order wine in a restaurant, and you don't know anything on the wine list, the worst possible choice you can make is to get the second cheapest wine.
The reason for that is it's statistically proven most people go for that, since they don't want to appear cheap and get the least expensive. So, restaurants know that and put their worst stuff in the second cheapest spot.
You're much be...

In my opinion, this is the most important money tip out there. Certainly the best one I've ever got.
If you're planning to save on anything, do it automatically. You don't have to fight a willpower battle with yourself every time you want to put money away.
Instead, set up automatic (for example, every month) deductions from your checking account to your savings. Even if you do it for ...

One of many things you can do to lose weight is spread your meals throughout per day, and make them smaller. Eat a small meal every couple of hours, while drinking copious amounts of water all throughout the day.
That will result in your body's metabolism rate speeding up (or rather, being normal and not slowing down, which is what happens when you eat only two or three "big" meals per day) ...

If you start off your day by reading email, reading some joke a friend emailed you, etc., it will take you forever to actually start working and doing something productive.
Instead, you should try to attack your most boring, difficult, and tedious task first. If you manage to get it done (or show any progress at all), you'll be inspired and productive for the rest of the day.

In the workplace, when someone comes to you while you're at your desk you should always stop your activity, turn to face them (physically rotate your body) and make eye contact. The worst thing you can do is to continue to face your PC and type/click while they're talking, even if you're listening to them.

If you walk up to a hot dog vendor and ask the price of a dog he'll say $2 (or something else depending on how touristy you look), but if you just give him a smaller amount without asking the price he'll take it. This has been tested using $1.50.
Being cheap with hot dog vendors is probably bad for your karma.

For stores to discount stuff, they need to keep it on the shelves at original (higher) price for a few days.
Usually, they do it on Monday and Tuesday, when nobody goes shopping. Then on Wednesday, they discount their prices, so you should go then while everything is still available and discounted.

If you make your rice with chicken broth or vegetable stock instead of water, it will come out much better tasting and with a lot more flavor.
Put as much stock as you usually put water, and that should be good.

If you make your own coffee, it can come out much better (after you learn how to make it, of course), and you'll save a lot of money.
Some people don't realize how much money they can save by not getting Starbucks. $3.50 every weekday - that's $70 a month!
